The Rapier is a very thin sword, most effective for piercing. Its speed is that of a shortsword. It was used by Gentleman Mallard until his disappearance at sea. The sword was later found by Smith of Mos Le'Harmless, who will sell it to players for 25,600 coins, so you need to complete Cabin Fever first. The stab and slash attack bonuses of the rapier are opposite compared to the Rune scimitar.
To be able to understand Smith and purchase the rapier, the player must either have a Book o' piracy in their inventory or have completed the Rocking Out quest. Talk to Smith and select the cutlasses option in the dialogue box.
Players require level 40 Attack to wield the rapier. It is the stabbing brother of the rune scimitar and can be used as an alternative by members. The rapier is one of the most effective one-handed weapons for stabbing.

Trivia
- The examine text is a reference to Tybalt, spoken by Mercutio in the Shakespeare play Romeo and Juliet while describing him as the very butcher of a silk button. 'Rapier' is also what swords are called by some of the characters during the play.
- The 'Rapier' once had the stab/slash bonuses switched; but as of December 29, 2008, the slash bonuses have been replaced with the current stab bonuses.
- This sword can be used effectively for fighting Dragons, as they are weak against stab attacks and the Rapier has a better stab bonus than all one-handed Dragon equipment except the dragon longsword, which is over twice as expensive and slightly slower.
- This is the signature weapon of Harrallak Menarous.
- Before the release of Dungeoneering, this was the only rapier in-game that players could wield.
