Unidentified liquid is a members-only quest item which, after being identified as nitroglycerin, is used in the Digsite Quest to make chemical compound along with ammonium nitrate, ground charcoal, and arcenia root to blow up bricks blocking the path below the digsite. It is obtained by using a vial on the barrel with a skull mark on it near the panning point, and can be brought to the Archaeological expert to learn that it's nitroglycerin, which will damage for 350 life points instead of 250. It is also used by players wearing Dharok equipment to lower health, so they can hit higher.
Warning: Do NOT drop the liquid, or you will be hit for 250 life points. Instead, empty the vial, then drop the vial to discard it safely. Dropping the liquid you will say: "Ow! The liquid exploded!"
Trivia
- A recent update by Jagex changed the way these items work, as a continuous drop of self-damaging items can no longer lead to self-inflicted death; The player will always remain with at least 20-30 life points.
- Although this item is used in The Dig Site quest, it is still obtainable after the quest as players may return to the Dig Site to refill their vials with this liquid (Reopening the Barrel with a Trowel is needed).
- The Animation for dropping this liquid resembles that of someone burying bones, it used to resemble the old animation, until a recent, hidden update by Jagex.
