Uncut red topaz is a type of semi-precious gem. It can be either obtained using the Mining skill from Shilo Village's gem rocks, a random gem rock during the Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup activity, from panning at the Digsite near the River Salve, a possible reward from the Gnome Restaurant activity, a possible find from Mobilising Armies, a reward from a fire spirit, or buying it off another player.
Red topaz can be cut with a chisel by a player with 16 Crafting although there is a high chance that the player will accidentally crush it. Successfully cutting a red topaz grants to player 25 Crafting experience, but if they crush the gem they will receive only 6.3 Crafting experience.
Red topaz is not used in the creation of jewellery, but can be cut into red topaz bolt tips for use in creating red topaz bolts.
Cut red topaz may be sold to Gabooty's Tai Bwo Wannai Cooperative for 120 trading sticks, uncut may be sold for 24.
Red topaz exists in RuneScape Classic.
The gem is also used to create a Red topaz machete, which fulfills a medium Karamja Task. Uncut Red Topaz has in the past been considered to be a merch item, with prices reaching the 1-2,000gp range on two occasions in the past year.
