The Red vine worm is used in the Fishing Contest quest to catch the giant carp that wins the contest. It may also be a clue for finding Solus Dellagar in the quest Wanted!. Then they could be used in the quest A Fairy Tale Part I - Growing Pains as an item to obtain to make a pair of magic secateurs. They are located in the western part of McGrubor's Wood by using a spade on a red vine.
