Level 1+ Logs can be cut and sold for Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "[". coins each. Normal trees are found virtually everywhere around RuneScape but - without the use of a Seers' Headband - only give one set of Logs per tree. The forest west of Lumbridge, the Grand Exchange, and the area east of Varrock are all convenient places to gather normal logs because of the number of trees and proximity to a bank. Members may also do the normal Evil Tree which may be cut for noted logs, Birds' nests, and other prizes. Regular logs also come from dead trees, dying trees, and evergreen trees. As you increase your woodcutting skill, the time it takes you to chop down a tree decreases, increasing your profit.

Level 15+ Oak logs are in demand for the Construction skill and sell for Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "[". coins each. Oak trees can be found in many places, most notably just east of the Draynor Village bank, east and west of Varrock, directly south of the Seers' Village bank, and south of the southern Falador gate. Members can also do oak Evil Trees for Woodcutting-related prizes.

Level 30+ Willow logs sell for Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "[". coins each, and can be cut in many locations. However, only a few are actually used by players. They are the best trees to cut for training, and one can make a reasonable profit from selling them. The best locations to cut willow logs include:
  • South of Draynor Village - This is probably the spot of choice for free players and members alike. It is literally seconds from a bank, which means profit and XP are both maximized. A word of warning about training here, though, as there are many players who train at this spot. Still, this is probably the best location to cut willow logs (at least for less experienced players)
  • South of Seers' Village flax fields - There are 4 or so willow trees next to the water. This plantation is rarely crowded, and the bank is still pretty close by.
  • North of Seers' Village bank - There are around 4 trees to the west of the maple trees. The bank is still very close.
  • West of the Barbarian Outpost - There is a deposit box nearby, and the area can be easily reached using a Games necklace.

As noted before, there are many more locations of willow trees, most of which are located near water.

3***** Level 45+ Maple logs are commonly cut logs found north of the Seers' Village bank. A less populated spot is north of McGrubor's Wood, where an entire forest of maple trees can be found. The only downside is that there are no nearby banks, lessening profit. However with level 30 Dungeoneering, a player can go to Woodcutting Island, the entrance of which is on the far southeast tip of Daemonheim. The island contains 8 maple trees and 5 willow trees. These logs are nearly always in demand for Fletching and can be sold for Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "[". coins each. These can be sold in large quantities at the Grand Exchange.
4***** level 50+ Chopping Mahogany logs is a good source of money if one chops at the Tai Bwo Wannai village. Be sure to buy a couple thousand Trading sticks at the Grand Exchange to enter the Hardwood grove (100 trading sticks) and to have Rionasta bank the logs. (note: It costs 10 trading sticks for each item banked, including the stackable items). After completing Deadliest Catch, a bank deposit box can be found on the beach north of the general store, a little farther away but free. One can also get special mahogany logs in about 50 logs chopped. Two of these can be traded to the sawmill vendor for a free conversion of all your mahogany logs in your inventory. If a player has 26 regular and 2 special mahogany logs in inventory, this will make a Expression error: Unexpected < operator. coin profit when selling the resulting planks on the Grand Exchange.

The return on cutting Mahogany trees and selling the Mahogany logs and resultant Mahogany planks is impacted significantly by the drop rates for Special mahogany logs which are estimated at 2%. At level 82 woodcutting with a Dragon hatchet at a fairly brisk rate of entering and exiting the Hardwood grove and banking with Rionasta one can harvest and bank at least 410 logs in an hour. Excluding time for sawmill trips, but subtracting out the banking and entry fees at market rates for Trading sticks, the return on mahogany log cutting in the Hardwood grove comes to Expression error: Unexpected < operator. coins per hour at a 2% drop rate. Higher woodcutting levels increase the speed of harvesting and hence the hourly return. At a 2% Special mahogany log drop rate, the expected return per log is Expression error: Unexpected < operator. coins, which can be multiplied by your expected number of logs cut per hour to get an hourly return (excluding time for sawmill trips).

4***** Level 58+ Eucalyptus logs - Currently the only location of eucalyptus trees is west of Oo'glog , and by Mobilising Armies. It was introduced 29 January 2008 along with the As a First Resort... quest. Eucalyptus logs are sold at the Grand Exchange for Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "[". coins each. Being close to a bank and extremely lightweight, this makes chopping eucalyptus trees a very efficient way to make money. It is advised to Bank at Oo'glog, or Mobilising Armies if a player has not done As A First Resort... Ogresses are aggressive and attack. The Ogress champion(level 99) is the hardest at the moment
4***** 80,000+ Level 60+ Yew logs sell for Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "[". coins each, and are almost always in high demand by players training Fletching and Magic. This makes cutting yew logs one of the most popular ways of making money. Take note, however, that yew logs may be slow to cut at first, so it is advised to level up to around level 65. A few yew trees are close to banks, but if you have 21 Agility and access to the Fairy ring system, you can use codes BLR(right next to a yew tree, with two more on the minimap) and DKR(a very short walk from a level 21 Agility shortcut into the Grand Exchange), you can make ~12k in a short Five to ten minutes, while barely ever looking at the screen! Also if you have level 60 Farming you can plant a yew tree in the tree patch right next to the gnome stronghold bank which means you're the only one who can cut it! And with a Hydra (level 80 Summoning) you can use the hydra's special to regrow your yew tree as soon as it falls thus this would be one of the quickest ways to cut yews, this can also apply for magic trees at level 75 Woodcutting and level 75 Farming Due to the bot nuking update almost all locations named are now not crowded

Other popular woodcutting locations are:

  • Behind Varrock castle. There are 3 yew trees that can be crowded at times. The closest bank is the Grand Exchange.
  • In the Seers' Village graveyard. There are 3 yew trees that can be busy at times. The nearest bank is the Seers' Village bank.
  • South of the Seers' Village flax field. There are 8 yew trees that are almost always crowded. However, this yew plantation probably has the closest bank, that being the one in Catherby.
  • Tree gnome stronghold has 3 yew trees right next to the bank and it is the closest bank in the members world that is next to yews
  • Melzar's Maze, as you can set your house at Rimmington, house teleport there, and then, when your inventory full, Cabbage Teleport back to Draynor. (Or any other teleport that doesn't take up inventory space). It rarely gets crowded. Also after the quest Rocking Out you can use the customs locker to bank your logs. This is very fast banking.
  • In the forest behind Lumbridge there are a few scattered yews that are rarely busy. Nearest banking is the Culinomancer's Chest, or the bank on top of Lumbridge castle.
  • In the ruins south of Edgeville. There are 2 yew trees which are close to the bank and the Edgeville Bank. However, this spot may be crowded at times.
  • Below Falador, North and Northwest of Port Sarim farm. There are 3 trees, that are rarely ever crowded, though they are spread out. Closest bank is the Falador East bank.
  • East of Varrock, 3 trees and 1 next to the church, all in a loop which you can go in a sort of circle and you can stop at the bank and drop off logs, usually very uncrowded.
  • If you have done Legends' Quest, then it is suggested to chop yews south of the Legends' Guild. There are almost never any people there, and there are 3 trees and the Legends Guild bank is very close by.
3***** Level 68+ Ivy is not a very effective way of making money, though with a Strung rabbit foot (increases chance of bird nest), ivy can bring an adequate amount of money and a good amount of experience(70k+/h). To make money, search each nest you get, crush the empty nest with a pestle and mortar to get a crushed nest (valued around Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "[". on the Grand Exchange. You can also use the crushed nests to make Saradomin Brews) and sell the seeds/rings obtained from the nests. You may also obtain various bird's eggs.
5***** Level 75+ Magic logs can be cut and sold for Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "[". coins each. Magic logs are quite slow to cut; similar to Yew logs, the trees are considerably faster to cut if one has a higher Woodcutting level. In order to maximise cutting speeds it is recommended that the player cuts Magic trees with a Dragon hatchet as they have the highest chopping rate. Though being slow and tedious, cutting magic logs is a quite effective way to make money.

At 93 woodcutting, by continuously cutting and regrowing a magic tree with a Spirit hydra familiar at one's Tree patch farming spot near the Tree Gnome Stronghold, one can cut and bank approximately 112 logs per hour to produce Expression error: Unexpected < operator. gp/hr.

Magic logs are almost always in high demand by players training Fletching. A few magic trees are close to banks:

  • There are some magic trees at the Sorcerer's Tower (4)
  • Some scattered around the Tree Gnome Stronghold (3)
  • East of the Ranging Guild (3). This is generally the most crowded area to cut Magic Logs.
  • Surrounding the Mage Training Arena (2), this is also a close bank, the one at the Duel Arena
  • The south-east area of Isafdar (3) recommended if you have started Mourning's Ends Part I as there are not many people cutting here and with an elf teleport crystal you can bank and return to the trees very quickly.
  • West of the Wilderness Bandit Camp (only after Spirit of Summer) (2) and Level 82 woodcutting. Note: No one can cut this magic tree while you are and the best part is that you don't need to wait for them to respawn. You can make ~36k in about 15 – 30 minutes, while barely ever looking at the screen! The Cursed magic tree in the Spirit Realm requires 82 Woodcutting.
  • There is also the resource dungeon in the Varrock Sewers (Requires 65 Dungeoneering). This is currently the spot with the most magic trees, as this location has six trees. With 51 Agility, you can use the nearby agility pipe and bank at Edgeville, which is a little bit of a walk, but you can most likely cut uninterrupted here, as many people don't have the 65 Dungeoneering requirement.
