A bad merchant
Speak to Nails Newton outside The Pick and Lute pub in west Taverley. He explains that a greedy merchant, Rolo the Stout, is buying all the food in the area and selling it for extortionate prices that the refugees can't afford.
Nails has a letter authorising all the food in the storehouses to be released for free, but he needs Rolo's seal, which he keeps in a chest that never leaves his sight, to authenticate the letter. Rolo is known for ordering expensive pies, and Nails wants your help in preparing a pie that will make Rolo feeling so ill, that Rolo will then leave the chest and seal behind in his dash to be sick.
Maggoty flour
Go south then east across the bridge to find some dead trolls with fishing bait next to them. Take the fishing bait, then collect some wheat from the field south of that. Go north to the watermill and put the wheat and the bait in the hopper on the first floor, operate the controls next to the hopper, and then go back down to the ground floor and empty the bin to get a pot of maggoty flour. There are two empty pots available in the watermill right next to the flour bin. Take the flour back to Nails and you will receive the maggoty pie shell from him.
Manky crayfish
Next, go north to the flax field then east to the fishing spot and get a raw crayfish and bury it in a field. If you need, you can get a crayfish cage from Nicholas Angle, who is right north from the crayfish spot. After you get one, go west to the flax field. The player will bury and retrieve the crayfish automatically in a cutscene. Take the manky crayfishback to Nails.
Stinking Potato
Now he wants you to stick a potato in a kebbit hole. If you don't have a raw potato get one from the farmer just north of Nails, or if doing this quest as part of the tutorial dig up one of the potatoes you planted before. Then take one of them to the small snow covered hunting area to the west of the flax field. Use a potato on a hole, then go back to Nails with the stinking potato. Use the potato and crayfish with the pie crust, then use the uncooked pie with the pub's oven to make Terrible pie. Then go back and talk to Nails.
Expensive spices
South of Nails or West of the mill, you will find Foppish Pierre, pickpocket him to get some expensive spices to disguise the smell of the pie and turn it into a mouth-watering pie. It may take several tries to get the expensive spices, as you may also receive 3 coins.
Finishing up
Take the pie to Rolo the Stout, upstairs of The Pick and Lute. He will eat the pie and immediately become ill. After talking to Nails, go back upstairs and steal the seal from the chest. Take the seal to Nails, and he will use it to stamp the forged letter, which he tells you to take to Foppish Pierre. Pierre reads the letter and agrees to open the food store. Go back to Nails and tell him of your success.

Trivia
- The quest's title is a reference to the phrase "Let them eat cake", a line falsely attributed to Marie Antoinette.
- After completion of the quest, a yellow dot will still show up in Rolo's place on the minimap: this is due to his chair being considered an NPC.
- When talking to Nails Newton, doesn't is spelled "doesnt".
