Asgarnian ale is an ale that can be player-made or purchased from various pubs. It heals ten life points and temporarily increases Strength by 2 at the cost of 4 Attack when drunk. It can also be bought from the bar in Falador for a cost of 3 coins.
The full recipe for Asgarnian ale is as follows (in the order given):
- 2 Buckets of water
- 2 Barley malt
- (optional) 1 "The stuff", to increase chance of maturity
- 4 Asgarnian hops
- 1 Ale yeast
- Wait two to five days
- Collect the completed ale using eight Beer glasses or two Calquat kegs.*
* Calquat kegs are highly recommended, especially if the ale has matured. Simply by collecting the ale in a keg, the value of the batch will increase by several thousand coins.
This drink is featured in Construction. Players can make Asgarnian ale barrels at 18 Construction, which provide an infinite supply of this beer. You must have 8 Asgarnian ales and 3 Oak planks in your inventory to build one. Unfortunately, ales taken from player-owned beer barrels cannot be taken out of a POH; however, if the player drinks the ale and leaves, they will retain the stat boosts until they wear off.
This ale is also featured in several quests. In Recipe for Disaster/Freeing the Mountain dwarf a gold coin is added to a glass of this ale, much like a shot drop, to produce an Asgoldian ale which is apparently a supreme favourite among dwarves. This drink also plays a role in the Death Plateau quest where you must supply the beverage to Harold in order to discover the combination to the Burthorpe Castle equipment storage room. In the quest Wanted!, Sir Amik will ask the player to bring an Asgarnian ale if the player becomes his squire.
Trivia
- The word Asgarnian may have been derived from the name of the capital of the Norse Gods, Asgard, and its inhabitants who are known as Asgardians.
- Its examine text may be a reference to the slogan used in England by Carlsberg lager - "Probably the best lager in the world"
