A Clay fireplace can be built in the fireplace hotspot of the Parlour, Bedroom, and Dining Room in a player-owned house. It requires level 3 Construction and 3 pieces of soft clay to build. As with most other Construction items, players must have a hammer and saw in their inventory to build the fireplace. When built, the player earns 30 Construction experience. To light a fire in the fireplace, logs, along with a tinderbox, are needed in the inventory. Lighting it will grant 80 Firemaking experience. Players who are new to construction may want to use the mine north of the Rimmington house portal. This results in relatively good experience for those who cannot afford anything else for a while. The player would bring a pickaxe to mine clay at the mine and soften the clay using the Well, then build and remove the fireplaces. A high mining level will increase the speed at which the clay is gathered, and a Bracelet of clay will remove the need of softening with the Well.
