A maxed out parlour in a player's house

The Parlour in a Player-owned house is one of the only two types of rooms a player can build starting at Level 1 In the Construction skill. Every player's first house starts with this room and a garden. Building this room will cost the player 1,000 Coins.

This room is initially for low-level training, and later its main useful item are bookshelves, which save bank space by storing every reference book unlocked by the player, which make it readily accessible by players. This means books held in your bank are no longer needed. However, once a Study or a Quest hall is built, these rooms also contain bookshelves and therefore the parlour can be deleted without significant loss of utility, especially if you are short of rooms. The only other practical use for a parlour is the experience gained from lighting a fire in the fireplace. Based on a player-submitted poll in March 2009, the Parlour was voted the least useful POH room. <ref>Jagex. "Player-Submitted Polls #16", Question 4. 4 March 2009. RuneScape Polls. *</ref>
