The candy cane was a reward from the 2009 Christmas event A Christmas Warble. Players can wield the candy cane in one hand, giving them some small stat bonuses. Interestingly, the stats are similar to those of the Scythe, which was released in the 2003 Hallowe'en event. The spin emote can be performed by wielding the candy cane, right clicking it, and selecting 'spin' on the equipment screen.
If you lose your candy cane, you can get another from Diango in Draynor Village. Like all holiday items, the candy cane can be stored in a Toy box of a player's Player-owned house.
Its Strength bonus is same with an Iron longsword, making it a somewhat usable weapon for Strength pures or new players. However, very few players that have been around long enough to have earned it are still in need of such a weak weapon, and its almost nonexistent attack bonuses make it unattractive to pures compared to other weapons that don't require them to train the attack skill. However, probably due to its stats, it is not permitted on Entrana.

Trivia
- It is possible to flip the candy cane while performing an emote and leave the graphics from the emote in place while the player is spinning the cane. Some emotes this works on are: Explore, Freeze and Melt, and Around the World in Eggty Days. This glitch has now been fixed, if the player attempts to spin the candy cane while performing the emote, it would result in "You are already doing an emote!"
