Yellow partyhats come from opening Christmas crackers. They are the fifth most expensive partyhat, going for nearly 1.8 billion coins on the street at their peak. As of 25 October 2011, the removal of most of the bots, and subsequently, a good majority of dicing, partyhats have lost roughly 25-33% of their value. A yellow partyhat's current price is roughly 900-1000M coins. Many players kept them when they were dropped, because they resemble a King or Queen's crown. They decreased in popularity after the introduction of the royal crown.
Since these items have been discontinued, they tend to be highly sought after by players attempting to show off their wealth. However, other than as a show of wealth, these are almost entirely useless.
