The Volatile clay pickaxe is one of the possible tools that the Volatile tool can transform into. The pickaxe gives a 120% experience bonus in the Mining skill, but reverts back to a Volatile clay tool after 10% of its charges are used. The pickaxe mines at about the same speed of the Rune Pickaxe, with the experience bonus mentioned above. This tool is not optimal for training a specific skill because the odds of getting the desired tool are low. The Volatile clay tools do not give the option to chose which tool you use, and if the player reverts the tool to try to get another, 10% of the charges are lost. If you were to have a Volatile Pickaxe and each time it was formed became a pickaxe again, it would last for aproximately 22k experience. This item can be found on a members world in the Stealing Creation activity.
