A Volatile clay needle is one of the possible tools that the Volatile Tool can transform into. The needle gives an experience bonus in the Crafting skill and it can be obtained by chance in the Stealing Creation activity by purchasing the Volatile Tool for 20 stealing creation points and making it transform. The needle is used to craft Leather, Snakeskin or Dragon leather into Leather armour, Snakeskin armour or Dragonhide armour. It gives a 120% experience bonus while used, like all Volatile Clay tools it is impossible to predict what item it will transform into after it reverts back to its initial state.
The Volatile Clay Needle is useful for achieving 99 crafting as the price with Green Dragonhide Bodies can be reduced by half. However since this is a Volatile tool, it is not recommended to be used over a Morphic tool, because the tool will morph randomly after 10% of its charge is used up. A player would most likely waste Stealing Creating points by reverting it back into a needle, or waste time by trying to use the charges on the tool it had just become.
