The Volatile clay harpoon is one of the many possible tools that the Volatile Tool can transform into. It gives a 120% experience bonus per fish caught.
While using Swordfish gloves, or the Shark gloves players will still receive the normal fishing experience for the fish, the 120% bonus experience from the harpoon and 100 experience from the gloves. The only drawback is that this harpoon is a bit slower than a regular harpoon and requires level 40 fishing, while a normal harpoon can be used at 35.
If you have a high enough Fishing level and have completed part of the Barbarian Training, if you're wielding the harpoon and it degrades back to its Sacred Clay tool form, you'll start using your hand for fishing instead.
