Unicorns wander around grassy or lightly forested areas in RuneScape. On members servers, unicorns drop unicorn horns, which are used in Herblore to make anti-poison potions. They also drop the unicorn bone used in Rag and Bone Man. Their respawn rate is around 1 minute and 40 seconds making world hopping a better option since it only takes 40 seconds; highly populated worlds are suggested to kill them on, as the respawn rate becomes around 55 seconds. Being fairly low level, they are ideal for average-levelled members to obtain gold.
In the quest Fur 'n' Seek, its hide must be collected and cleaned for the Odd Old Man.

Trivia
- In Entrana, when unicorns walk on the slope near the water and face east or west, they appear to be parallel to the water.
- On any other sloped terrain (i.e. the Varrock Mines), the unicorn seems to be almost horizontal with the ground as if standing at a 45 degree angle.
- The examine text states one of the few mentions of horses, along with the Unicorn stallion familiar and the Unicorn foal.
- In the Underground Pass quest, you crush a unicorn to collect its horn. The horn is needed along with three paladin's badges to open a door that leads to area with Iban.
- The trees in the Unicorn cage in the Ardougne Zoo have a red tinge to them, unlike any other trees nearby.
- In RuneScape Classic, unicorns were level 21.
