Unarmed
Unarmed is a style of combat in which a player is fighting with no weapons equipped. As a result, the player has no attack bonuses, besides those that may come from other items that may be equipped, such as an amulet.
Fighting unarmed is sometimes more effective, though there are few cases. For example, if the player were wielding a Bronze 2-handed sword, it would cause a horrible speed penalty, and fighting without a weapon would be better.
Fighting unarmed
Players engaged in unarmed combat normally do so because they do not have the funds for a significant weapon, or are simply trying out fighting barehanded. A player who has a Members object equipped as a weapon in a Free-to-play world will fight as if they are unarmed, and will punch or kick the enemy regardless of what they may be holding. Some popular members weapons, however, are an exception to this, and may have their own animation.
Unarmed has the same attacking speed as a scimitar. (One hit per 2.4 seconds)
Since Unarmed has no attack bonuses, the damage players are able to deal depends on their Strength level and the accuracy of their hits depends on their Attack level, as well as bonuses from other equipped items.
Players may fight unarmed using the Goliath Gloves from the Dominion Tower . The gloves have identical stats to an Abyssal Whip , can train all combat styles and uses crush. These however, only last 4 hours per set of gloves and one must kill 500 bosses, all bosses from boss set 1 and 5 more bosses per every extra set of gloves. Players can retrieve new sets of gloves from the Strange Face every 5 boss kills. Players can have 3 sets of gloves at any one time, and the Strange Face will hold up to 15 pairs of gloves.

Playing unarmed
Players not engaged in combat are often unarmed to minimise their excess weight, thus enabling them to run for longer periods of time. This is useful during training Agility or rune running.
Other uses of "Unarmed"
Unarmed may also be used to describe a player who has no weapons wielded or in their inventory. This context is most often used when a player may not be carrying a weapon as a requisite to travelling to a certain location. For example, a player traveling to Entrana must be unarmed. In addition, two players may consent to fight unarmed in the Duel Arena.
