Troll thistle is a quest item used in the Eadgar's Ruse quest. It can be obtained by picking it in any of the grass areas in Trollheim near the cave where Eadgar lives. Note that every time you pick the thistle, it spawns in a different grass patch.
If you drop the thistle, a message will appear in your chatbox saying, "The Troll Thistle withers away as soon as it hits the ground."
The player can then use the thistle on a fire to dry it out, turning it into a dried thistle. This can then be crushed in a pestle and mortar to make ground thistle which, when unfinished ranarr potion, is used to make a troll potion.
