Top hats are obtained as rewards from level 3 Treasure Trails. They offer no stats and are solely for decoration. It was released on the Grand Exchange with a price of 500,000 coins, but immediately spiked to over 4 million coins due to elevated demand for the new item and merchant clans buying the item out. After the initial demand wore off, the price plummeted to an all time low of 76,400 coins.
It may also be coloured with the Members Loyalty Programme for 6000 points. The available colours are blue, white, red, and green.

Trivia
- The examine text is a reference to a magic trick done by an illusionist or magician; in which he/she pulls a rabbit out of a top hat.
- Instead of wearing the top hat with the brim resting on the character's ears, it is worn on the very top of the player's head similar to the royal crown.
- When wearing the top hat with the long swept fringe or the liberty spikes mohawk hairstyles, the hair used to pass through the top hat on the chat head. However, this has been fixed.
- There used to be a bug where the players became bald whilst wearing the top hat. This is now fixed.
