The Fractite kiteshield (Tier 5) is an item that can only be obtained and used while Dungeoneering. It requires level 40 Defence to wear. It may be picked up from the table at the beginning of a dungeon, obtained as a monster drop, or produced using the Smithing skill. This is the strongest kiteshield available to free players in Daemonheim.
It can be produced by using 3 Fractite bars with a hammer on an anvil, requiring level 46 Smithing and granting 147 Smithing experience.
Compared to a rune kiteshield, a fractite kiteshield has 1 higher slash, 6 lower crush and 4 higher ranged defence, but its stab bonus is only 1 higher than an adamant kiteshield. Like all other equipment in Daemonheim, it has 0 summoning defence but this is not important as no creature in Daemonheim uses Summoning.
This item is less commonly produced by smithing than other pieces of equipment are, as many melee fighters will prefer to use two-handed weapons such as the Fractite spear and Fractite maul, and these weapons can not be wielded with a shield. Also, players with exactly 3 fractite bars to use for gaining Smithing experience will generally prefer to produce Fractite platelegs instead, as they give more experience per bar than the kiteshield.
