Racing boots came with the Tools for Games update of 15 July 2009 and are sold by Faruq in Al-Kharid. Their purpose is to help players create games more easily. The boots prevent the wearer from moving until after a friends chat member uses the Starting horn. The Master of Races will announce "Ready!", "Set!", "Go!" and blow a whistle to allow players to move again in order to start a race. A player cannot move if he/she is wearing these boots and blows the horn. When attempting to wear these shoes a warning message is always displayed, even in "Equip your character screen", but it will force-close the interface and display the warning.
You cannot receive challenges in the Duel Arena with these on. It is a common belief that these boots invisibly increase your agility level or the amount of time that you can run for, Jagex has confirmed this is not true.
