The Promethium kiteshield (Tier 10) is an item that can only be obtained and used while Dungeoneering. It requires level 90 Defence to wear. It may be obtained as a monster drop, or produced using the Smithing skill. This is the highest tier kiteshield that can be smithed within Daemonheim.
It can be produced by using 3 Promethium bars with a hammer on an anvil, requiring level 96 Smithing and granting 282 Smithing experience.
Compared to a Chaotic kiteshield, a Promethium kiteshield's slash, crush and ranged defence bonuses are 21, 6 and 6 higher respectively. However, its stab defence is noticeably poor, 7 lower than a Dragonfire shield. Like all other equipment in Daemonheim, it has 0 summoning defence but this is not important as no creature in Daemonheim uses Summoning.
This item is less commonly produced by smithing than other pieces of equipment are, as many melee fighters will prefer to use two-handed weapons such as the Promethium spear and Promethium maul, and these weapons can not be wielded with a shield. Also, players with exactly 3 Promethium bars to use for gaining Smithing experience will generally prefer to produce Promethium platelegs instead, as they give more experience per bar than the kiteshield.
Using High Level Alchemy on this shield produces 12,240 rusty coins; as with all dungeoneering items, this is more than it can be sold to the Smuggler for (6,120 coins).
