A Newt is a quest item obtained during the Swept Away quest. It is given to players by Gus, the delivery ghoul, after helping him sort the labelling of the crates in Hetty's basement.
Once obtained, the newt must be given to Hetty for it to be used in the Broom ointment. The ointment can then be used on the Broomstick to enchant it.
