The mystery cracker is an item received by a player who has been referred to RuneScape by a friend. It can be used on any player to give the new player one of each of the following:
- A hat - Either a Leather cowl, Wizard hat (blue) or Wizard hat (black)
- A body - Either a Leather body, Cape (random colour), or a Priest gown (top)
- A weapon - Either a Bronze sword, Bronze 2h sword, Bronze scimitar, Bronze longsword, Bronze warhammer, or a Bronze battleaxe.
- 500 coins
- Cake
The items that player gets cannot be selected; the player will randomly get one item from each category.

Trivia
- Bronze halberds are obtainable from the cracker on any referred account, even on free to play worlds. They simply appear as 'Members objects' in the inventory, and cannot be used. It is unknown if this is a glitch or not.
- The Cracker is the same color that the Christmas Cracker was when first dropped in 2001.
