A mint cake.
A mint cake.

Mint cake is a food item that, when eaten, will restore a player's run energy to 100%. Mint cakes restore more energy per consumption than any other item using only one click. Super energy potions (4) can restore up to 160% of a player's run energy at 4 clicks, however, the mint cake is more instantaneous.

A mint cake can be obtained as a possible reward from the Gnome Restaurant activity and can also be obtained by exchanging Tangled toads' legs with Longramble during or after The Path of Glouphrie quest. This exchange can only be made once.

Before 1 February 2010, mint cakes were very rare and valuable as it was rare to obtain them from the Gnome Restaurant activity. They were perceived as valuable items, used in junk trades to buy items for a price much higher than that of the Grand Exchange's. However, on 1 February 2010, the chance of getting a mint cake reward from the Gnome Restaurant activity was increased considerably. Furthermore, they are now received in amounts ranging from 8-10 rather than individually.

Compared to super energy potions, mint cakes provide faster (instant) run energy restoration and are cheaper. However, super energy potions restore 160% run energy per inventory space compared to only 100% for mint cakes, so super energy potions are better when inventory space is an issue.

Trivia

  • The Mint cake is most likely based on a real life food called Kendal Mint Cake, which is a highly sugary food that tastes of mint.
