A Black candle is a Firemaking item which is used during the Merlin's Crystal quest. A player gets one from the Catherby candle maker by trading a Bucket of wax to him. Players can get some wax from the beehive south-west of Catherby if they spray the beehive with insect repellent and use a bucket on it. A player may give the candle maker more than one bucket of wax to get more than one black candle. This item will not count as a substitute on any Candle material needed for the Construction skill in a Player-Owned House.
Trivia
- Black candles are considered to be unlucky by the candle maker.
- After the quest it is possible to buy black candles from the candle maker for 3 coins each, as he claims that the player "started a trend" with the black candles, and has begun selling them, despite being considered unlucky.
- It is possible to use it on a lantern but when it breaks you get the black candle back.
