A Big shark is an abnormally large Raw shark caught while Harpoon fishing at any harpoon/big net fishing spot. Since players can only get it while fishing for sharks, it requires 76 Fishing to get it. It is a fairly rare catch (about 1/5000)[source needed]. Though it is possible to catch two or more in a single pack, or none in ten thousand. A ring of wealth will not increase chances to get one. It cannot be traded or sold on the Grand Exchange. Players may use the High Level Alchemy magic spell to convert it to 3,000 coins.
To stuff the big shark, players can take it to the Taxidermist in Canifis. She will charge the player 5,000 coins and turn it into a stuffed shark. Once it's stuffed, players can mount it in their Skill Hall at 76 Construction, using a stuffed shark and 2 Mahogany planks, producing a Mounted shark.
Trivia
- When players catch a Big shark, they receive a message saying "You catch an enormous shark!" instead of the normal "You catch a shark."
- It is possible to catch two or more Big Shark at a time. It is currently unknown whether this is a glitch or not.
- When attempting to cook a Big Shark you will receive the normal XP and receive a normal cooked shark, so long as it is not burnt.
- When it is taken to the Taxerdermist, she will say "That's quite a fearsome shark! You've done everyone a service by removing it from the sea!"
