Ganodermic armour is a set of Magic armour that was released on 28 November 2011, along with the Polypore Dungeon. It requires 85 Defence and 85 Magic to wear, and consists of three pieces:

Ganodermic armour is created by adding ganodermic flakes, obtained as drops from ganodermic runts and ganodermic beasts within the dungeon, to the corresponding pieces of mycelium web armour. The full set takes 7,000 flakes to make: 500 for the visor; 5,000 for the poncho; and 1,500 for the leggings. Different Crafting levels are required to create each piece; the highest requirement is 98 Crafting for the ganodermic poncho. The poncho gives 1,000 Crafting experience, the leggings gives 300 Crafting experience and the visor gives 100 experience. The Assist System can be used to create the armour, however doing so does not reward Crafting experience.

After 10 hours of combat, ganodermic armour will degrade back into mycelium web armour. It can be repaired by adding more ganodermic flakes, in the same manner in which it is originally created. The Assist System may also be used to repair it. Players can check the number of charges remaining in each piece at any time with the right-click Check option. Currently, a full set repair costs   2,471,000 assuming the flakes are bought from the grand exchange.

Ganodermic armour, particularly the poncho, is noteworthy as being among the most powerful Magic armour in the game. Its magic attack bonuses are surpassed only by Zuriel's Equipment and virtus armour, both of which are far more expensive. Although its Stab defence is extremely poor, the ganodermic poncho has the highest Slash and Crush defence bonuses in the game, aside from some Dungeoneering-only equipment. Its Magic defence bonus is also exceptionally high, the highest in the entire game. Furthermore, the ganodermic armour set gives a total of +53% to Magic damage soaking, the highest possible bonus of all armour sets in the game.

Popular uses for ganodermic armour are fighting the Corporeal Beast, TzTok-Jad and fighting Magic-using players in PvP situations. Additionally, the armour is exceptionally good against Nomad, as the high Magic defence bonus helps to withstand his normal attacks, and the high Magic damage soaking bonus significantly reduces the damage dealt by his Disintegrate and Soul Blast attacks.

Ganodermic armour will begin to degrade upon the first hit received during combat, not by equipping it.

Repairing

This section describes a simple formula to calculate how many ganodermic flakes you need to repair your ganodermic armour:

  • N - the amount of flakes required
  • V - the current % of your visor
  • P - the current % of your poncho
  • L - the current % of your leggings

If you don't have one part of the armour, set its respective value to 100%.

Trivia

  • Ganodermic armour, along with its lesser versions Grifolic armour and Fungal armour, is the only armour in RuneScape which gives higher soak percentage for its own combat style versus the style it is supposed to be strong against, according to the combat triangle.
  • Despite being very high level equipment, the stab defence of Ganodermic armour is very low, only better than full bronze armour by +2. An explanation for this is that ranged and stab defence and/or weakness always go hand-in-hand, so being weak to range (to fit within the combat triangle) necessitated the armour's weakness to stab.
  • However, ganodermic armour is one of the very few magic armour that actually gives an, albeit small, positive ranged defence bonus. Void Knight equipment far outstrips it in this field though.
  • After the update on 6 December 2011 any ganodermic armour that had over 50% remaining charge prior to the change was given a charge of 50.0% regardless of how much charge was remaining. This posed a problem with some players who had purchased a ganodermic armour piece just a few days prior, only to find out that it was reverted to 50.0%.
    • Even though a large percentage of charge was removed from the armour piece on the 6th of December, 2011, it actually worked out in the players favour because rather than lasting 100 minutes it would last 10 hours before losing all its charge.
    • Ganodermic armor is aquamarine and has a cap in Runescape. However, most Ganoderma in reality are known for their broad, thin, and red traits. It is currently unclear why this is.
