A flare is a item used to request the help of a team mate that is operating the catapult in Castle Wars.
When ignited, they give off a coloured smoke. It is red for the Zamorak team, and Blue for the Saradomin team. Flares cannot be used inside castles, as that would be pointless. When used, the flare will automatically be dropped on the spot the player was standing on. The flares will give an indication on the catapult's operator's screen by having the tile of the location change colours.
