Fire surge, a members-only magic spell, is the strongest fire spell, the strongest elemental spell, and the strongest combat spell in the standard spellbook. This spell deals a maximum damage of 280 without boosts. The catalytic runes used for this spell are one blood rune and one death rune. An elemental staff can be used to cut the costs of this spell. Like all combat spells, each damage point caused by this spell yields 0.2 magic experience and 0.133 constitution experience.
Players can use this spell to reignite the Dragon Forge in the Ancient Cavern that allows players with 92 Smithing to repair dragon platebodies.
At level 85 magic, the Polypore staff has a higher max hit than Fire surge which requires 95 magic and the Polypore staff is 8 times cheaper per cast at current street prices of fire runes and polypore spores.

Maximum hit
Under perfect conditions, Fire Surge can hit a maximum of 593 during a slayer assignment in Kuradal's Dungeon, while wearing a Hexcrest or Full slayer helmet, a Ferocious ring, a Chaotic staff, an Arcane stream necklace and using either Overload potions, Magic focus scrolls, or Extreme magic potions. Furthermore, inside Daemonheim, Fire Surge can hit even higher using a blazer ring that gives a chance of dealing 50% extra magic damage over time. The Celestial catalytic staff offers 30% more damage and at level 99 magic, drinking a strong magic potion would increase the maximum magic damage by 21%. With these three factors combined, it is possible to hit up to 660 damage (one 440 and five 44 splats). This spell has even greater damage capacity against Ice strykewyrms, hitting over 1,100 damage with a Chaotic staff.
