Dealga is a monkey who was released with the Ancient effigies update on 15 June 2010. He owns Dealga's Scimitar Emporium and sells Dragon scimitars, starting at 100,000 coins each, with a stock of 10. A Monkeyspeak amulet/Cramulet is required to understand him, but not to trade with him. Additionally, the completion of Monkey Madness is required to buy a dragon scimitar from him. If wearing a monkeyspeak amulet from the quest Monkey Madness, you can talk to him about why he is there and he explains that he is selling Dragon scimitars to humans because they pay a high price for it.
Before the Update
Before this update, the only other place where Dragon scimitars were sold was on Ape Atoll at Daga's Scimitar Smithy. As the place requires tedious effort to reach without Ape Atoll teleport, many people chose to just buy them from the Grand Exchange or other players. Because of this, the quantity demanded was higher than the quantity supplied at the fixed price ceiling and thus was very hard to obtain through the Grand Exchange. The street price ran about 120,000 coins with some cases of people offering up to 150,000 coins. The addition of Dealga stabilised this and Dragon scimitars could be easily bought at the Grand Exchange for 60,000 coins.
Trivia
- Free players could see Dealga for some time (until he disappeared on free worlds) but couldn't understand him.
- Besides pet monkeys, Dealga is currently the only monkey with updated graphics.
