Crunchy
Crunchy is a character often used by Jagex on the official RuneScape website, although he has never appeared in-game. Crunchy is depicted as a skeleton with sparse body armour and sometimes varying weapons. His name was released in the first issue of the Postbag from the Hedge, in which he describes his past. <ref>Jagex. Postbag 1 - "Poultry, Dragons and Zombies", 3. Postbags from the Hedge. *</ref>
Crunchy often featured on the RuneScape website alongside his companion, a warrior named Tim. The two were most notably seen holding the High and Low detail buttons before the addition of RuneScape High Detail, with Crunchy on the right holding the high detail button. The two also featured on various pieces of artwork released by Jagex, as well as on the cover of RuneScape - The Official Handbook. Because Jagex's style of website artwork has changed heavily over time, Tim and Crunchy are rarely used now.
Before Tim and Crunchy were the characters behind the detail select, there were a knight and a wizard holding the game type select. They were later replaced with Tim and Crunchy when the members/free play select got replaced with the detail select.
