A cosmic shield is an elemental shield that can be made after completion of Elemental Workshop IV. Forging the shield requires 38 Smithing, and it may be made with one cosmic bar and a hammer on the first floor of the elemental workshop dungeon, provided the player has a notched book in their inventory. It requires 40 Defence to wear.
As well as providing a moderate Magic defence bonus, this shield, along with all elemental shields will offer protection from the icy breath of Skeletal Wyverns in the Asgarnian Ice Dungeon. This was previously not offered until an update on 2 March 2011.
