The Novite kiteshield (Tier 1) is an item that can only be obtained and used while Dungeoneering. It has no Defence requirement to wear. It may be picked up from the table at the beginning of a dungeon, obtained as a monster drop, or produced using the Smithing skill. This is also one of the only pieces of combat equipment that can be purchased from the Smuggler.
It can be produced by using 3 Novite bars with a hammer on an anvil, requiring level 6 Smithing and granting 39 Smithing experience.
The stab defence of a novite kiteshield is same as a bronze kiteshield, while its crush and ranged defence is 1 lower and the slash defence is the same compared to an iron kiteshield. Like all other equipment in Daemonheim, it has 0 summoning defence but this is not important as no creature in Daemonheim uses Summoning.
This item is less commonly produced by smithing than other pieces of equipment are, as most melee fighters will prefer to use two-handed weapons such as the Novite spear and Novite maul, and these weapons can not be wielded with a shield. Also, players with exactly 3 novite bars to use for gaining Smithing experience will generally prefer to produce Novite platelegs instead, as they give more experience per bar than the kiteshield.
Those who often take on the role of the keyer while they train Dungeoneering may use this item in order to activate their tank class ring bonus.
