Karamjan rum (banana) is an item made by using a banana on a bottle of Karamjan rum. Adding the banana gives the message "You stuff the banana into the neck of the bottle. You begin to wonder why." Unlike the regular rum, it can be taken off the island, for example by using the "Cabbage teleport".
In the quest Tai Bwo Wannai Trio, you have to put banana (sliced) in Karamjan rum. Lots of players just put the banana in, so they had to collect the rum again. This is likely a red herring added by Jagex.
