Cheggy was a character that made several appearances on the RuneScape home page, next to update articles. Cheggy appeared to be a grey squirrel wielding a crossbow, and was present primarily for humour. The character's name and details were released in Issue 14 of Postbag from the Hedge. <ref>Jagex. Cheggy's Postbag response suggests that he is paranoid and possible mentally unstable. He appears to be at odds with the intelligent penguins native to the Motherland, although it is not explained why. He claims that he is adept at shooting with a crossbow, and that the pictures on the home page were taken by a "smelly old human with a paper crown" (probably referring to the Wise Old Man).
Since the RuneScape website's graphical overhaul, Cheggy has ceased making appearances. His humorous nature means that he is usually not taken seriously.
