A Sea slug was an item that players could pick up using the Telekinetic Grab spell in RuneScape Classic. If dropped, players could only pick it up again using another Telekinetic Grab spell. The sea slugs as an item had absolutely no use.
The ability to cast Telekinetic Grab on sea slugs has been rendered almost useless, as Jagex has changed them from their original status as an item to a non-player character. Players who still had a sea slug in their possession (either in their inventory or their bank) now had a discontinued quest item, albeit an untradeable one. It is, however, still possible to obtain this item in RuneScape 2 by casting Telekinetic Grab on a sea slug during the Sea Slug quest, in particular, the sea slug that is knocked off of you.
With the release of the Slug Menace quest, Sea slugs were graphically updated. Before this update, they were a plain tan colour. Now they are a tan and magenta colour.
Trivia
- It is one of the items that are always kept on death.
- They damage you even on free to play worlds.
- When you ask the Wise Old Man to check your bank for junk while a sea slug is in it, he will comment "A Sea Slug? Yuk! Get rid of it!".
