The Grotworm Lair is located in the caves northeast of Rimmington. The lair has three levels, containing creatures of levels 10, 91 and 167 respectively. They are assigned by slayer masters. Many special drops can be found here; bolts for the Coral crossbow, Royal dragonhide, and bolts for the Royal crossbow. The Queen Black Dragon, the strongest monster in RuneScape, also resides here.

Players can teleport outside of the cave in the White Knight Camp once per day with Remora's necklace, but the Port Sarim lodestone is just a few steps away.

All the monsters are aggressive regardless of the player's level. For players wishing to kill the Queen Black Dragon or mature grotworms, there is a slide shortcut down to the bottom level of the Lair, requiring 50 Agility.

Players cannot set up cannons here. Attempting to will generate a game message saying "The air here is too damp for the cannon to be set."

The White Knights sent Sir Rebrum to investigate the Lair, but the cautious Rebrum is more than happy for the player to venture in on their own, after his last attempt to explore the caves resulted in the deaths of most of his subordinates.

If you die inside of the Grotworm Lair, your gravestone will appear outside.

Those who wish to travel into the Grotworm Lair to make money from mature grotworms should be warned that it is a heavily bot infested area and competition is huge.

White knight corpses

There are several corpses of white knights involved in the charge through the cave by Sir Rebrum. Here are their names. Like most White Knights, their names are a pun on a certain word. Every corpse is found on the first floor. Even though these white knights are highly trained warriors they all seem to die in the area inhabited by low level monsters and some even have corpses where the monsters don't even go, it seems strange that all the knights are so weak.

Trivia

  • The grotworms are parasites that have been eating the Queen Black Dragon from the inside out; this explains why they drop royal dragonhide.
  • Upon release of the dungeon, many players flocked to kill mature and young grotworms, probably due to the drops and the need of Coral bolts, because of the possible "special effect" on the Queen Black Dragon.
    • Upon release of the Queen Black Dragon, even more players flocked into the lairs to kill mature and regular grotworms for the chance of royal bolts and royal d'hide.
  • In the deepest level of the Grotworm Lair, there appears to be an image of the Stone of Jas, or the Dragonkin symbol. Underneath it is a set of spiral stairs leading further down, currently unaccessable.
