Wielding is the act of equipping chosen objects in RuneScape. When a player hovers their cursor over an equippable object, the command "Wield" will show. Once an object has been wielded, the object is placed in the player's hand/s. The right hand is usually used for the wielding of objects such as weapons, whereas the left hand is generally taken for shields. Two handed weapons also exist, and as the name suggests, they require two hands (bothweapon and shield slot).

  • Melee armour gives a positive defence against melee and a negative defence against magic attacks.
  • Magic armour does not give a very good protection bonus but it normally gives a positive bonus to magic attack bonus.
  • Range armour has a very good defence bonus against mage but not very good against melee.
  • Wielding melee items gives a slash, stab, and/or crush bonuses, while mage or range items give a range or magic bonus.
