Quoth Mod Raven

Greetings players,

To many of you, my name will already be familiar as one of the gold crowned mods who wandered the forums as part of the Community Management team, some of you may even have been members of my clan on FunOrb. To others, I shall say hello, I’m Mod Raven, nice to meet you.

I recently left the Community Management team and joined the RuneScape Content team - quite a big change, I can assure you; however, the content team members are friendly (if a little eccentric) and, after several conversations about which superhero is better than the others, I realised that this was going to be a great team to work with.

After the initial training period (under the watchful eye of Mod Maz’s squirrels) I was handed my first project. My original project suggestion was discounted - I had hoped to create a mass hypnosis program to control the minds of anyone who logged into RuneScape, but I was told that my schemes for world domination would have to wait, and were a little too Batman villain-esque. The project I've been given is far more interesting...

Indeed, as you may have gathered from the title, my first project as part of the content team will be this year's Halloween update!

Now, you may say, "But Mod Raven, Halloween is months away", because it is. Alas, though, content takes rather more time than a few weeks to make and we really need to start early to make sure that time-sensitive content (such as this) is ready and in working order well in advance, so that our QA team can go to work. This means that, more often than not, we need to start the seasonal content as early as we possibly can.

Still, the content is currently in the early stages and as I write this I’m currently working on the basic concepts. Some of the ideas I had are now out of the window for various reasons. Although I still think the one devoted to the worship of ravens is a good concept and not even slightly narcissistic. I don’t want to say what the current working concept is for several reasons, but mostly I don’t want to spoil the surprise and also because, at this stage, everything can change at the drop of a scythe (pun intended, and that's not a hint ;)).

I am currently wandering the forums looking at Halloween suggestions, so, if you post your ideas now, chances are I’ll have a look at them. I can’t promise that your ideas will make it into the game, but you never know, there might be the odd reference. Obviously, there’s no point suggesting items with stats as a reward or anything that would unbalance the game; Halloween is meant to be just for fun, after all.
