The pie dish is an item that players use to make pies using the Cooking skill. Players must add pastry dough to the dish to make a pie shell. It can then be filled with various fillings (see pie for more details). Players can make a pie dish out of soft clay at level 7 Crafting to gain a total of 25 experience points. It is possible that the pie dish may break while it's in the pottery oven.

Players can collect pie dishes for free from respawns at Nurmof's Pickaxe Shop in the Dwarven Mine, the Varrock Palace kitchen, on the 1st floor[help] of the Cooks' Guild and one each on the ground floor[help] and 1st floor[help] of Caleb's house in Catherby (the house with the range and sink). An infinite supply of pie dishes is also available from the shelves in the kitchen of a player-owned house, provided the player has installed at least Teak shelves 1.

Players can buy pie dishes from various NPC shops. The shop with the greatest stock is the Pie Shop ran by Romily Weaklax on the ground floor[help] of the Cooks' Guild; this store stocks 100 pie dishes. Stores that sell pie dishes in quantities of 10 include: Frenita's Cookery Shop in Yanille, Beefy Bill's Supplies ran by Beefy Bill south of the Champions' Guild, and the Culinaromancer's Chest in the basement of the Lumbridge Castle. Players may also buy pie dishes on the Grand Exchange for 243 coins each.

A pie remains in the dish until consumed, but a burnt pie can be emptied out, leaving the player with an empty pie dish afterwards.
