The rug merchant is a Rug Merchant at the Monkey Colony who works for Chimpish Airways. He is rather annoyed by his assistant. He has a deal with Ali Morrisane, whereby all carpets incoming to the colony are paid to Ali and all outgoing carpets are paid to the merchant.
