The Rocnar.
The Rocnar.

Rocnars are large level 97 beasts that are put in oubliettes to "execute" players.

The rocnar looks like a big one-eyed green ork with two long fingers on each hand. Although they require a higher Construction level to install than flame pits, a flame pit is more popular. This is due to the fact rocnars aren't very accurate in their attacks and can be prayed against and piled by players in the cage. Like other creature in oubliettes, the bonus from the Crystal saw cannot be used to 'build' a Rocnar.

In an issue of Postbag from the Hedge, a question is asked about rocnars:

Dear Rocnars of RuneScape

I was wondering where Rocnars come from? Do you enjoy living in cages inside player owned houses? Do you want to take over RuneScape? Are you an endangered species? What's your fave movie? What are movies?

I hope you can answer these questions, if all the Rocnars of RuneScape can put their intelligence together I’m sure you can answer these questions.

From thedna333

Once there many, many rocnar. On high, rocky mountains, on cold plains, herds of rocnar roam and trample over all. Sometimes we find camps of humans or goblins or trolls and we trample over them: bash smash crash! Just like in picture you send. But humans not like this, they hunt rocnar and kill them or lock them in cages. Wild herds of rocnar are no more.

Now we only live in dark damp cages, listen to humans walk about on floor above our heads. Sometimes floor open and tasty human fall into cage, then we can bash smash crash!

Not know what movies are. Do they fall from hole in floor above? Are they tasty and squishable?

Trivia

  • It seems like the Rocnar is based off the Star Wars creature, the Rancor, for a few reasons:
    • When the trap door in a player owned house is opened the player will fall into a pit and be eaten by the rocnar, just like in the Jabba's palace scene in Return of the Jedi, when Jabba opens up the trap door to feed Luke Skywalker and (earlier) a Twi'lek named Oola to the Rancor.
    • Their name sounds similar to Rancor and is the same word spelled backwards.
    • It has a similar look, with a muscular body, open mouth and long fingers on each hand.
