The Promethium chainbody (Tier 10) is an item that can only be obtained and used while Dungeoneering. It requires level 90 Defence to wear. It may be picked up from the table at the beginning of a dungeon, obtained as a monster drop, or produced using the Smithing skill.
It can be produced by using 3 Promethium bars with a hammer on an anvil, requiring level 96 Smithing and granting 282 smithing experience.
If possible, it is usually advised to produce a promethium platebody instead for the party's warriors, as it gives better defence bonuses overall. However, its crush defence bonus is the half of crush defence bonus from the chainbody. Producing a Promethium platebody requires 5 bars opposed to 3 bars for the chainbody, and the platebody is less suitable for armoured rangers and mages as it lowers the wearer's Ranged and Magic attack bonuses more than the chainbody.
