This article is about the possessed pickaxes found in various locations across Gielinor. For the similar monsters found under Daemonheim, see Animated pickaxe. For the monsters in the Lava Flow Mine, see Possessed pickaxe (Lava Flow Mine).
A Possessed pickaxe is an animated NPC found in the Haunted Mine, near the Lair of Tarn Razorlor, and in the Chaos Tunnels. The behaviour of the pickaxe is relative to the location it is found in. For instance, in the Haunted Mine this NPC looks like a dropped steel pickaxe until it jumps up and attacks the player when he/she is nearby; while in the Chaos Tunnels these pickaxes are always animated, appearing as flying steel pickaxes. Possessed Pickaxes are weak against magic and crushing attacks. This NPC is not to be mistaken for its Magic Axe counterpart.

Trivia
- The magic axe is nearly identical to the possessed pickaxe. Both seem to be animated tools. However, the axe holds a slightly lower combat level, but ironically has slightly higher hitpoints and a higher max hit.
- Even though the Possessed Pickaxe has the appearance of a steel pickaxe, its only drop is an iron pickaxe therefore implying that it is rather an iron pickaxe instead.
- Though Possessed Pickaxes are a result of some type of magic, they are weak to all forms of it.
