Papelford

Papelford is the librarian at Varrock Palace and archivist for the Society of the Owl. Reldo is his apprentice.

He often states that Reldo is an excellent apprentice and capable of taking over for him when he is no longer archivist.

During Return to Canifis, he refuses to help Reldo investigate the disappearances, even going as far as refusing to let Reldo use materials from his private store.

During Legacy of Blood he is sacked as archivist due to making constant errors and being uncooperative and is replaced by Reldo. It is revealed that he has been a Zamorakian spy all along and has been trying to help the agents sent by Mortania capture the seven children needed for the sacrifice to weaken the Salve. During the Battle of King Botolph's Tower, he reveals himself as one of the leaders of the Zamorakian insurrection, luring guards away from their posts and killing them. He survives the battle and manages to escape, but is hunted by Varrock's best afterwards.
