The Mummy Champion was one of the three champions added to the Champions' Challenge activity on 9 November, 2009, along with the Banshee Champion and the Aberrant Spectre Champion. The rule you must follow when fighting this champion is that you must have nothing in your offhand slot or a two handed weapon. Despite being the champion of the Mummies, she has a lower combat level.

She fights using a magic attack from a distance, so protect from magic can be used to counter it. She also uses what looks like a blue abyssal whip, and can often hit over 200 with it, but this can be countered by protect from melee. Additionally, like her counterparts, she can be set on fire using Magic. However, this will increase her combat level to 126, and the maximum damage from her attacks will also rise. Ice Burst or better seems very effective when farcasting against her, and you will take no damage when using Protect from Magic (as stated earlier.) It may not even be worth using Protect from Mage because when she is frozen, she does not use her magic spell that often, making it more cost effective to bring food instead of extra prayer potions.

An excellent way to beat her is to wear good mage protect armour (mystic) and pray Protect from Melee. Casting Claws of Guthix or any god spells can kill her very quickly, possibly with only 1 or 2 pieces of food needed.

You can also beat her by using ranged (using a crossbow - mithril bolts or higher will do). As she will hit from a distance, you won't get hit by her melee attacks, which means you will not get hit at all if you put on magic protection prayers. However this is not necessary; if you put on some armour with excellent mage defence bonuses, such as Black dragonhide armour, you won't receive a lot of hits. Lobsters are about the lowest food you can use for this mummy, but better food is not needed. Note that players cannot use shortbows or longbows to fight the Mummy champion, since these are two-handed weapons and, as such, they implicitly fill the offhand slot.
