The Ket-Zek, also known as 360, is a monster found in the TzHaar Fight Caves that resembles a giant red dog. They appear first in wave 31, and 2 will be encountered the wave prior to TzTok-Jad (62). They are also encountered in The Elder Kiln quest.
Killing one of these is a required hard task in the Karamja Diary.
It uses powerful magic and melee attacks, which hit up to 590 and 540, respectively. They will only use the melee attack if you are already within melee range. For this reason, the prayer Protect from Magic is recommended. The magic attack consists of the Ket-Zek flinging something that looks like a fireball at you with its tail.
Be warned that if you activate the protect from magic prayer after you have been hit once, two more attacks will still hit you, most likely killing you in the process.
Ranged attacks or Halberds are the easiest way to kill this monster as it eliminates its melee attack, leaving only the magic attack to worry about; however, using a melee weapon such as a rapier or whip can make things much faster by hitting after a magic attack and immediately taking a step away, however, this is only recommended after you have memorized their attack speed (they hit at the same speed as a whip), as one mess-up could make you waste a large amount of supplies or even cost you the entire cave altogether.
Trivia
- According to Reldo, Ket-Zek translates from TzHaar language as either "Guard Dog" or "Big Hurt;" however, he says he hasn't used the TzHaar language for some time, so the translation may be inaccurate.
- One of these must be killed for the Hard Karamja Tasks.
- The Ket-Zek encountered during The Elder Kiln quest do not count for the Hard Karamja Tasks.
- It is currently the sixteenth-highest level monster in the game, and the fifteenth highest levelled attackable monster as the Spirit Beast cannot be attacked. It was the second-highest level monster until the release of the God Wars Dungeon.
