The Combat beta is currently a beta for the Evolution of Combat. It was released on 26 June 2012 for any player who has been a member for 12 consecutive months. They have unlimited access to the beta, although they also must currently be a member to participate in the beta. Members who didn't reach the 12 consecutive month requirement are currently able to access the beta on weekends (Saturday and Sunday bounded by GMT midnight time) after 6 July. Jagex also selected 50,000 other members who signed up and did not get access instantly, and the 50,000 are chosen based on how "active" they are.

After an update on 2 November, all players can now access to the combat beta.

Pre-Beta

Four videos were released on Jagex's official YouTube channel to explain the Evolution of Combat. The first video showed combat in the beta, while the second video introduced new tabs. The third video explained the Adrenaline bar and the fourth explained Dual-Wielding.

Registration

On 1 June, all players received a combat beta contract with the option to sign up for the Beta. Only people who had been a member for 12 consecutive months were allowed access to the Beta on 26 June. Free-to-Play also received the contract, but could do nothing with it, other than selecting the drop option and destroying it completely, or banking it.

Accessing the Beta

The beta servers can be accessed here. Playing on the beta is browser-based play since there's no option to switch to the beta worlds on the official downloadable client. The login screen is as normal, and will take players into the lobby. If players wish to play with their main game character, they should click the "Import" button (pictured above) at the bottom left of the screen. If they do not click on this link, they will start the beta with a basic character.

Playing on the Beta

Note: What ever you do on the Beta servers does not affect your current account on the non-Beta servers.

When on the Beta, all your items will be the same from your other account unless you did not click to import your account.

Players on the beta server have access to the Beta Shop, located in the Lumbridge Castle, in front of the Grand Exchange, Falador by the statue, and in the Ardougne Market formed by various NPCs, which will provide all levels of combat gear, runes, potion and food for free in order for players to test. Additionally, all gravite and chaotic equipment can be taken for free from Daemonheim rewards trader. These items are not transferable to the main servers.

Trivia

  • Price checking any item in the Beta will show the price of the item when it was initially released on the Grand Exchange.
  • Thereotically players can earn many coins in no time in Combat Beta, as expensive equipments which are given in mass for free, can be sold to general stores quickly. Thus Combat Beta can also be a sandbox for trying out different things. However, items that are hardly available without usage of Grand Exchange, are excluded from the beta.
