A Brawler is a monster from the Pest control activity. They are often considered irritating monsters because of their ability to stop players and monsters from walking through them, sometimes preventing players from reaching spinners or running to the next portal.
The blocking feature, however, can also be taken advantage of to prevent damage to the Void Knight. The technique is known as 'Luring'. A Brawler is deliberately left alive and walked next to the Void Knight. Any Torcher, Defiler or Shifter behind a Brawler will simply move up to the Brawler and stand around doing nothing, as if it were behind a gate. In the best-case scenario, the Void Knight is surrounded by 3 Brawlers and no other monsters, leaving the Void Knight safe from damage for the rest of the game, unless one of the Brawlers dies or is moved from its place.
During the game they do not attack the Void Knight, so it is not vital to kill them. They have a lot of life points and fairly low Defence, which makes them very good for raising your total damage when done quickly, although you should not attack a Brawler being used as a wall unless the game is about to end.
Strangely, Ava's devices do not collect arrows when shooting at these.

The Void Stares Back
During The Void Stares Back quest, one Level 89 Brawler appears alongside a Defiler, Spinner and Torcher. As in Pest Control, this one acts as an obstacle. However, this unlike Pest Control, this quest-specific Brawler attacks far more frequently and has the ability to "injure" the player, temporarily disabling run, similar to the attacks of Saggitare.
Trivia
- They are taught to look very similar in appearance to Monkey Guard.
