The Tropical Wagtail is a bird which requires a Hunter level of 19 to trap using a bird snare.

An efficient way of hunting these (to decrease running time) is to bring a Ring of duelling. It allows one to teleport to Mobilising Armies, which has a bank. The player would then bank, and run back to the Tropical wagtails. This cuts off about 20 to 30 seconds of time. You may also visit the Spirit Tree.

Description

This beautiful bird can be found in hot jungle climates where it expertly catches small insects for food. It is perhaps therefore ironic that it is usually caught for its bright plumage, which can be used in turn to make excellent fly fishing lures.

Habitat

These birds are found in the Feldip Hills Jungle Hunter area south of the Feldip Hills. Bring at least two bird snares, because shortly after reaching level 19 Hunter, when players can snare these birds, players hit level 20 when they can place two snares at a time. This greatly increases the amount of experience a player can obtain. The stripy feathers are used for fly fishing rainbow fish (used as bait for barb-tailed kebbit). Players also have the option to 'smoke' their trap to mask their scent so it heightens the chance of catching the bird.

Using the Fairy coordinate AKS from Zanaris, head south into the habitat area.

Trivia

  • There was a common animation glitch when you catch a Tropical Wagtail, where it would appear flat on the ground for a second. This was later fixed.
